I missed F My Life Wednesday yesterday

How rude of me!?! Oh well, it will just have to wait until next week. Can't do F My Life Wednesday on a Thursday, that would ruin everything.

Here is some more grocery shopping for you:

Tomorrow is, again, my Friday off. Yeah! I think I am going back to Charles Town to do some more gambling. Want to come with me? Maybe I'll take a picture and share my losses.

How 'bout them Pens! On to to Detroit, can't wait. And at least we don't have to wait another week and a half like the NHL was proposing. That would have been miserable. And this way, Detroit has less time to heal their many injuries (HA).

2 for Tuesday

Isn't that a pizza slogan or something? It was just a random phrase that popped into my head.

It was a nice 3 day weekend. I went to Watermelon Park for the tail end of the weekend, there's only so much of that type of partying that I can take. But it was a blast, that's for sure. Here's some TMI for you, I haven't had that much sex in a long, long time. And yes, it was all with my hubby.

So the Penguins can advance to the Cup tonight. I guess I should say, the Penguins will advance to the Cup tonight after they smoke Carolina, can't wait. I would prefer to win at home, but let's just win! Get it over with. Let Gonchar get back to 100% so we can stomp on Detroit next. GO PENS!

Wishful thinking works

Yep, our DAS just said "everyone goes home at 3". Okay only 1/2 hour early for me, but I'm thankful.

Have a great weekend. I have to work on hubby's computer (again). The message is "unmountable_boot_volume". It's getting old.

And what a nice, sunny, gorgeous Friday it is. It's looking like we will not get a government perk of being released early today. I'm assuming Memorial Day just doesn't rank up there with the likes of Xmas and Thanksgiving. Though I guess there is still time for the edict to come down. (Come on, what are you waiting for, get sent to us lowly staff.)

Penguins rock! In case you don't know that already. Yes, the furry little black and white creatures dressed in tuxedos, but, of course, I meant my Pittsburgh Penguins.

It is a perfectly gorgeous afternoon outside and I wish I was sitting out there instead of in my office.

Tuesday today

Vacation plans have been decided upon. I will be taking B to Disney World for 4 days and then in November I will be taking J to Los Angeles to see a Lakers game. That's what the boys wanted to do this year, they didn't want a beach vacation. Bummer, I love doing nothing at the beach.

Penguins are up 1-0 over the Hurricanes (come on, did you expect anything different?). GO PENS!

Weddings in bad weather

I am going to a friend's wedding today and the weather just doesn't seem to be cooperating. It is rainy, overcast, and cool. It is just 10:30 am, but from what I am hearing, not an ideal wedding day.

And to top it off, the wedding is at her parent's house. In the backyard. There will be tents, and heat, but still. The wedding starts at 5 and I wish Mother Nature would have cooperated a little more.

Wooooh, it's Friday! I know, I am at work on my off-Friday. That's okay, training has been okay all week, I don't mind. And it just means that I am off on Monday.

So the Penguins play the Hurricanes, exactly what I wanted except that I have to wait until Monday for the 1st game. That sucks, that's too long of a wait. I want to play tomorrow!

F My Life Wednesday

Gotta hurry and do this, have to get to my lovely training class.

How pathetic is that? Her mother should be shot or at least have her mouth washed out with soap.

That's today's parenting. Okay, I can't just say that across the board, it's not all parenting. Still it is very pathetic.

So my hubby left yesterday for turkey hunting. YEAH!!!! Mini vacation for me. Sometimes people need alone time and this is one of those times. I get to watch my Penguins beat the Crapitals tonight in closing out the series and moving on to the next round, and I get to watch it in peace.

Hockey central

Unbelievable, I just can't believe that the Penguins lost in game 6 to the crapitals. They should have sealed that series. I mean, we were at home in front of a white-out, sell out crowd. We played good, just a missed shot in overtime.

Well, it is what it is and we move on to Wednesday. GO PENS!

On another note, my hubby leaves today to go hunting. It is the end of turkey season, so he and a friend are going down to hunting camp in Bath County for 2 days and then further down to another friend's camp for the rest of the week and weekend.

Me, I consider it a vacation.

Training

Yep, in training today, all day, all week. Basic Supervisory Training. It's mandatory (and yes, I have been a manager for about 20 years). Oh well, it's something different to do.

Polar Bear Friday

Really cute polar bear costumes. We have protesters from GreenPeace camped outside of our building today.

2 of the protesters are dressed up as polar bears in an effort to have the special rule issued in December, by the Bush administration, retained. The ruling protects the polar bear under the Endangered Species Act. It is related to the effects of greenhouse gases and climate change. The administration has until tomorrow to make a decision on the ruling.

Yes, I just checked and saw the news release that says the ruling will continue.

But they really are cute costumes. They have got to be sweating, it is close to 80 degrees under full sun in the middle of DC.

Today is my short Friday. Okay it is only shortened by an hour, but hey, that's significant when you work 9 hour days.

Kitten

5:30am, this morning, I am up, pouring my 1 very large travel cup of coffee, and wham! She comes bounding down the stairs and jumps (or slams) into my legs. It's frickin' 5:30am! What is she doing up? There are lots of times she is up. She starts scratching at the door from within J's room and it wakes him up, so he cracks the door so she can escape.

Yes, he cracked his door this morning, but why all the energy? Usually she will just slink down the stairs and peek around the corner and then, maybe, come rub my legs and whine at me to be picked up.

Sorry for the fuzziness, that's what happens on a cell phone sometimes. And she looks kinda spooky.

But not today, a bundle full of energy. Guess that means she will be sleeping all day long (which is not out of the ordinary anyhow).

Oh my, I almost forgot: GO PENS!

Middle School

Boys will be boys. My boys (ages 15 and 12 - the ones at home) do nothing but pick on each other or mess around together. As most teen/tween brothers do. So this carried over to Middle School for B. (J is in high school) B and his friend were messing around in the locker room while they were getting dressed for P.E. B was taking his friend's agenda and hiding it behind his back and this escalated to a little bit of pushing and B managed to hit his friend down there. Yes, in his private parts. Yes, in other words in his nuts. B told the Dean that it was an accident, but she has been trying to crack down on the boys for messing around in the locker room, and thus, B has after-school detention for 2 days. (Now that I think about it, I forgot to ask if the other boy does also.)

I have absolutely no beef with this, if it is deserved, then he shall serve his punishment. Is it wrong to not think your child is the most well-behaved, smartest, bestest kid in the world who can do no wrong? I don't think so. Sometimes reality needs to step in and in this case, I think they both deserved after-school detention. I'm just a realist at times.

I guess that's how you spell it. And this is the same thing as St. Patrick's Day. Who the f@ck cares? What the hell kind of American holiday is this? Just another excuse to drink? That's what weekends are for. Seriously.

Refilling my metro card

So with the stimulus money, the Federal Government decided to up the transit subsidy they give to federal workers (that's me). That was just awesome. Of course, my agency was a little in the taking. It was effective starting in March, my agency just sent the information out to us 2 Fridays ago. Now, since I ride the Loudoun County buses and they don't have a metro card machine thingy, I have to walk up to the metro station (while at work) and reload my card.

So, I'm off to do that. Here's hoping money was actually deposited on the 1st like usual. And since my agency was lagging, I don't know if I will actually see the increase this month or not. Here's wishing.

It's a Monday again

Pouring down rain, chilly, yucky, blah. That's the day today. So the Penguins lost to the Crapitals on Saturday, not a big deal, it's only game 1 and we know how the Penguins can play. The game is on tonight at 7, be there.

It's late on Friday night, okay, it's not that late. We haven't even left the house yet to go get drunk. That's coming in about half an hour.

What a waste today was. It was my Friday off and what do I do? I don't even get out of bed until noon. So much for gambling at Charles Town. Next time I suppose.
