What kind of a book am I?
Absolutely not true. These quizzes lie! I strongly dislike (notice I didn't say hate) Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Give me murder and horror!

What kind of Writer am I?
You Should Be a Film Writer |
![]() You don't just create compelling stories, you see them as clearly as a movie in your mind. You have a knack for details and dialogue. You can really make a character come to life. Chances are, you enjoy creating all types of stories. The joy is in the storytelling. And nothing would please you more than millions of people seeing your story on the big screen! |
Really? I think you are full of shit, but maybe I'll try this out one day.
Yeah, right.

Daydreaming in the daytime
So one day, I am out walking. Just taking a leisurely stroll around the lake. It is probably close to 8:30 in the evening.
"Aaaagh, what the hell?"
Someone's hand reaches around me, where I have landed on my stomach in the grass, and covers my mouth.
"Not another word. Not another sound. Quiet!"
I feel something being wrapped around my right wrist and I start to struggle. Seeming to be much bigger and stronger than me, my attempt to get up is futile. He grabs my left arm from under me and pulls it back to be bound with my right.
"Don't say a word and you won't get hurt. Do you understand?"
I nod my head.
Something is put around my head as a blindfold. What is going on? and who is this? I am thinking. I'm about to go into panic mode, scared to death.
Flipping me over onto my back, and my bound arms, I realize he did a good job with not letting me see anything.
"Who a ar?"
"Enough! I told you no talking. No sounds. No nothing and you won't get hurt."
Another piece of cloth is pushed into my mouth.
"Now, let's see what we have here. A sweet little thing, getting some exercise, near a very secluded lake, all alone. I really don't see another person anywhere, do you? Oh, yeah, you can't see." He laughs.
I am pulled up by my shoulder.
"Let's go for a little walk. We won't go far off the path; I don't want to tire you out yet."
My legs don't seem to want to move and I stumble a bit as I am propelled forward. By the slope of the hill, I can tell we are going away from the lake and away from the closest access to the path.
What should happen next? I am thinking of the usual rape scene, but a nicer version of it. He doesn't hurt her, but turns her on. And they pseudo-make out for an hour or two. Both having climaxed, he takes her over the edge a couple of times.
What do you think? Do you have another suggestion for the next part?

F My Life Wednesday on Thursday
How could I be so thoughtless? I know, you look forward to my F My Life posts every week and I let you down. I sincerely apologize.
No really, please forgive me.
Here is yesterday's forgotten F My Life.
"Today, my brother deleted all traces of the novel I've been working on for three years from my laptop. The reason? When I was born "I stole all of Mum and Dad's attention." He's 24. FML"
With all the writers and would-be-writers out there, can you say death wish? Holy shit, I would have killed him.
I couldn't even imagine that happening to me or even doing it to someone. I guess that's just another reason for backups.

What is wrong with me?
I want to do it, I really, really do. I just can't get from here to there. I sit down and open a blank document or even an already started story and just can't move on. I know what I want to write, I think I just don't know how to get from beginning to finished.
I have all the time in the world right now at work. I could have a finished novel by now with all the time I've wasted surfing.
Now, don't get me wrong, I am surfing well. I am reading constantly about "writing". But why can't I just do it?
Any ideas? What can I do to motivate myself?
I posted the start of a story out on "TextNovel"; I even have one person following it, but it's stuck. HELP ME!!!!
and, I should have my hands slapped if I forgot this: GO PENGUINS!

More rain, more dreariness
Is that a word, dreariness? I have no idea and really, I don't care. Do you?
How 'bout them Penguins?!?!?!?! We rock, they rule, GO PENS!!!!!
This is the Friday mid-day edition of my random thoughts. Now, that does not mean there will be a late edition, but anything is possible.
Have you heard/read about the latest US thing catching on? It's been around a long time in Japan. Thumb Novels. Mini, short novels you write and post from your cell phone. I think it is kinda cool.
So what did I do? I posted the beginning of one out on Textnovel. Go read it and tell me what you think. (I haven't gotten real far, but I will)

Wow, I have not been very good at blogging lately, I guess I have realized that I don't really have anything to say. Not that it didn't stop me before, but maybe it is just boring me now. I need some more motivation.
Oh yeah, in case you haven't heard, my Steelers have won their 6th World Championship Super Bowl. Just thought I would throw that in there.
What else is new? Well, there is some bad medical news for my husband (who is a complete jerk at the moment) but I don't feel like putting it down on paper yet.
And that will about do it for me, I really have to get some motivation back. Need to start writing again. Have a nice day.

NaBloPoMo winner!
I did it, I did it, I did it! I blogged all November for NaBloPoMo (in reality, I've now blogged for 2 months straight). Woo Hoo. But it was a challenge and I met that challenge.
Here is a cute cartoon I found a while back in the Washington Post.

Need a quirkiness: say your hero/detective, Martha Mavin, is a lady librarian--quiet, shy, bookish--yet she owns a Harley, say, and is the mascot for a motorcycle gang on weekends. Etc., etc.
So how did she ever get involved with a motorcycle gang? It started with her brother, who used to take her riding, and when he went off to Vietnam, he left his bike behind. When he never came back, she started riding to bring back the memory of her brother. She rides with his old gang, who are hard guys, outlaws, but not criminals, who think of her as a kindred spirit despite her bookishness.

Here's the process: start with an idea, then create biographies for the major characters, including the murderer. The murderer has a plan for murder, "the plot behind the plot".
Once you have the plot behind the plot and know what the murderer is up to, the next step is to make a stepsheet for the plot, which is a detailed, comprehensive plan for a damn good mystery. After the stepsheet is finished, the next step is doing a rough draft, then a working draft, then perhaps a second working draft, then a final draft, and then a polish or two to make the prose gleam. By going about it in such an organized way, it should take, for an 80,000-word novel, about 3 to 5 months, full time; 6 to 8 months, part time.
~ James N. Frey (How to Write a Damn Good Mystery)

Formula: 2nd draft = 1st draft - 10%. ~ Stephen King rejection note
So this is the book I am currently reading. This is a fantastic book, I can't say enough about it. Interesting as hell, truthful, insightful, funny, sarcastic, etc., etc., I could go on forever. I highly recommend this book!
Today's Word of the Day is Execrable: 1. deserving to be execrated; detestable; abominable, 2. extremely bad; of very poor quality, very inferior.

I had this nightmare last night, not just a bad dream, a full-fledged nightmare. My husband even had to wake me up and ask me if I was okay. I was shaking like crazy after that. And yes, I wanted to, I should have, but I didn't get my butt out of bed and write it down. I wanted it for writing fodder and I screwed up. I just wanted to sleep, this must have been about 2:30am and I do get up for work at 4:30, that's my excuse, lame as it is.
I tried to remember the nightmare this morning and all I can remember is something about riding on a bus, I think a school bus. I'm still trying to remember pieces.
That will teach me, next time get out of bed and write it down!

Murder on the ____________ Line
In the midst of an evacuation of a Federal building, a person(s) comes up missing.....

Today is Wednesday and I can't wait until it is over. Reality is I can't wait until the election is over, I am tired of the debates, I am tired of the commercials, I am tired of the mudslinging, I am tired of the surveys, and I am tired of the political crap taking over my shows' timeslots. Once again, another week missing some shows: no Private Practice and no Dirty Sexy Money. How many days until election day? 20 days and maybe then we can get back (or get started) on some semblance of normalcy. Though, that thought in and of itself is way up in the air and has to depend on the outcome of election day. There has to be a better way.
Today's Word of the Day is Waylay. It means: 1. to lie in wait for and attack from ambush, 2. to approach or stop (someone) unexpectedly. As a teacher would say, "how would you use this word in a sentence?".
Uh oh, my cell phone is ringing (I'm at work), okay my cell phone is vibrating, it is the call I have been waiting for. Wait, it is vibrating again. Please just leave me a good message and I will go outside and call you back. Please, Please, Please, be good.

So I was over cruising on NaNoWriMo and came across a post that talked about the 24 words that are possibly heading for extinction from the "dictionary". I just thought I would repeat the words here, with their definitions, for anyone who is interested (and so I can have a remembrance of them).
Abstergent - cleansing or scouring
Agrestic - rural; rustic; unpolished; uncouth
Apodeictic - unquestionably true by virtue of demonstration
Caducity - perishableness; senility
Caliginosity - dimness; darkness
Compossible - possible in coexistence with something else
Embrangle - to confuse or entangle
Exuviate - to shed (a skin or similar outer covering)
Fatidical - prophetic
Fubsy - short and stout; squat
Griseous - streaked or mixed with grey; somewhat grey
Malison - a curse
Mansuetude - gentleness or mildness
Muliebrity - the condition of being a woman
Niddering - cowardly
Nitid - bright; glistening
Olid - foul-smelling
Oppugnant - combative, antagonistic, or contrary
Periapt - a charm or amulet
Recrement - waste matter; refuse; dross
Roborant - tending to fortify or increase strength
Skirr - a whirring or grating sound, as of the wings of birds in flight
Vaticinate - to foretell; prophesy
Vilipend - to treat or regard with contempt
So exactly what did these words do to deserve banishment?
