Crisp and cool

That's awesome weather and that's what we have today in the metro DC area (technically at the moment I am in NW DC but I am sure at home, Northern Virginia is getting the same weather).

I love this weather. My hair doesn't curl or frizz out, I get to wear my Mickey Mouse sweatshirt, I sleep like a baby, it refreshes me, and my hair doesn't curl or frizz out (that bears repeating because I absolutely hate humidity when I can't do anything with my hair).

Hockey starts tonight, of course, the best team doesn't start their season until tomorrow. Yes, of course, my beloved Pittsburgh Penguins.

Don't be jealous. We can't all be born and raised in the best (real capital) city in Pennsylvania, yes, "the burgh".

That's correct. Pittsburgh is the City of Champions. 5 months ago, the Steelers Ruled, 2 weeks ago, Pittsburgh was voted the "most livable city" AGAIN, and just this past Friday, the Penguins dominate.

Hello to my Friday

Did you notice the mess of traffic in DC yesterday afternoon? Holy crap, what an f'ing mess! It took me double the time to get home from work and that's just because the buses couldn't get into the city. The bus was 50 minutes late and it was standing room only. By that time, I was tired of standing at the bus stop, so I passed.

The next bus came 15 minutes later, was very empty and we shot right out of town. Finally. So from start to finish, 2 hours. Normally, 50 minutes or so.

Gotta love DC. Can you imagine if it was more than a shooting at the museum? I'm pretty sure that DC isn't ready for evacuations.

Tonight is game 4 for the Lakers and Magic. I think I want the Lakers to win, but at the same time, I want a good series. So, Go Magic! For tonight anyways.

And tomorrow, WE WIN LORD'S STANLEY CUP! GO PENGUINS! GO PENS!

F My Life Wednesday

It's that day of the week again, Wednesday!

Today, I finally confessed to the guy I've liked for 2 years. I told him that I've really liked him for a long time and that I knew he had a girlfriend and I didn't expect anything from him, I just wanted him to know. His response: "Are you done? 'Cause I need to go to the bathroom." FML.

What is wrong with me?

I want to do it, I really, really do. I just can't get from here to there. I sit down and open a blank document or even an already started story and just can't move on. I know what I want to write, I think I just don't know how to get from beginning to finished.

I have all the time in the world right now at work. I could have a finished novel by now with all the time I've wasted surfing.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am surfing well. I am reading constantly about "writing". But why can't I just do it?

Any ideas? What can I do to motivate myself?

I posted the start of a story out on "TextNovel"; I even have one person following it, but it's stuck. HELP ME!!!!

and, I should have my hands slapped if I forgot this: GO PENGUINS!

More rain, more dreariness

Is that a word, dreariness? I have no idea and really, I don't care. Do you?

This is the Friday mid-day edition of my random thoughts. Now, that does not mean there will be a late edition, but anything is possible.

Have you heard/read about the latest US thing catching on? It's been around a long time in Japan. Thumb Novels. Mini, short novels you write and post from your cell phone. I think it is kinda cool.

So what did I do? I posted the beginning of one out on Textnovel. Go read it and tell me what you think. (I haven't gotten real far, but I will)

Waterlogged

It's raining again (wow, surprise) and I am feeling water logged. I was so tired last night that I was fast asleep by 10:30pm, and I blame it on the weather.

I will admit that the lightning show last night was awesome, it went on for a good 20 minutes straight. And I do love thunderstorms, but it's just getting old.

Game 4 of the Stanley Cup is tonight - and you will never guess what I am going to say.....

Okay, you probably knew that. In some ways, I am very predictable.


I made mine and B's reservations for Disney World and put down the deposit. It's official, my son, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and all the other characters will be mingling the first few days of September. Gotta love it.


And, booking through Disney was actually cheaper than Expedia or Travelocity. That was a shocker (and less fees), and you get a few extra perks. So, I think it will be well worth it.

"Today, I was taking a nap. Apparently, my two year old daughter decided to crawl on top of the covers on my bed because she was scared since there was a thunder storm. I thought she was one of our cats so I kicked her off. She hit the wall. FML."

So June 19th is the last day of school for my kids. Our county gets out awful late, in my opinion. I miss them going back to school before Labor Day, its that damn Kings Dominion law. We need to change that again.


So its official, I have requested time off to take my youngest to Disney World. We are going the first week in September (yeah, after I just bitched about wanting them to go back to school before Labor Day). Its just for 4 days.


And J will get his mini-vacay in November. We have to wait until the Lakers schedule is posted and tickets are available. That will be a cool vacation.

Achy and sore Monday morning

Weekend drinking is bad for your health. I feel so sore and achy today, didn't feel so bad yesterday, since my hubby says he had to drag me home Saturday night (more or less). Well, I'm seeing some bruising where he had to help me walk, but boy am I feeling it. Very stiff and hurting.

Have I learned my lesson? No, I'm sure I haven't.

That's why we walk, or try to walk. It gives me that license to get wasted. And it's about time he took care of me, I am constantly getting him home and in the front door.

Okay, Penguins, you are down 2-0 to fuckin' detroit. I can't have that. Step it up.

I missed F My Life Wednesday yesterday

How rude of me!?! Oh well, it will just have to wait until next week. Can't do F My Life Wednesday on a Thursday, that would ruin everything.

Here is some more grocery shopping for you:

Tomorrow is, again, my Friday off. Yeah! I think I am going back to Charles Town to do some more gambling. Want to come with me? Maybe I'll take a picture and share my losses.

How 'bout them Pens! On to to Detroit, can't wait. And at least we don't have to wait another week and a half like the NHL was proposing. That would have been miserable. And this way, Detroit has less time to heal their many injuries (HA).

2 for Tuesday

Isn't that a pizza slogan or something? It was just a random phrase that popped into my head.

It was a nice 3 day weekend. I went to Watermelon Park for the tail end of the weekend, there's only so much of that type of partying that I can take. But it was a blast, that's for sure. Here's some TMI for you, I haven't had that much sex in a long, long time. And yes, it was all with my hubby.

So the Penguins can advance to the Cup tonight. I guess I should say, the Penguins will advance to the Cup tonight after they smoke Carolina, can't wait. I would prefer to win at home, but let's just win! Get it over with. Let Gonchar get back to 100% so we can stomp on Detroit next. GO PENS!

And what a nice, sunny, gorgeous Friday it is. It's looking like we will not get a government perk of being released early today. I'm assuming Memorial Day just doesn't rank up there with the likes of Xmas and Thanksgiving. Though I guess there is still time for the edict to come down. (Come on, what are you waiting for, get sent to us lowly staff.)

Penguins rock! In case you don't know that already. Yes, the furry little black and white creatures dressed in tuxedos, but, of course, I meant my Pittsburgh Penguins.

No idea what that title has to do with anything. I just looked over at my desk calendar and saw the Dilbert cartoon sitting there. Guess that explains that.


It is a perfectly gorgeous afternoon outside and I wish I was sitting out there instead of in my office.

Tuesday today

Vacation plans have been decided upon. I will be taking B to Disney World for 4 days and then in November I will be taking J to Los Angeles to see a Lakers game. That's what the boys wanted to do this year, they didn't want a beach vacation. Bummer, I love doing nothing at the beach.

Penguins are up 1-0 over the Hurricanes (come on, did you expect anything different?). GO PENS!

Weddings in bad weather

I am going to a friend's wedding today and the weather just doesn't seem to be cooperating. It is rainy, overcast, and cool. It is just 10:30 am, but from what I am hearing, not an ideal wedding day.

And to top it off, the wedding is at her parent's house. In the backyard. There will be tents, and heat, but still. The wedding starts at 5 and I wish Mother Nature would have cooperated a little more.

Wooooh, it's Friday! I know, I am at work on my off-Friday. That's okay, training has been okay all week, I don't mind. And it just means that I am off on Monday.

So the Penguins play the Hurricanes, exactly what I wanted except that I have to wait until Monday for the 1st game. That sucks, that's too long of a wait. I want to play tomorrow!

Gotta hurry and do this, have to get to my lovely training class.

How pathetic is that? Her mother should be shot or at least have her mouth washed out with soap.

That's today's parenting. Okay, I can't just say that across the board, it's not all parenting. Still it is very pathetic.

So my hubby left yesterday for turkey hunting. YEAH!!!! Mini vacation for me. Sometimes people need alone time and this is one of those times. I get to watch my Penguins beat the Crapitals tonight in closing out the series and moving on to the next round, and I get to watch it in peace.
