Running makes me feel good

I did it! I started running again. Okay, I eased into it. Last night, after I visited the library (gotta get my murders to read) I went down to the Pavilion lake.

Okay, let's back up. After the library, I bounced on our trampoline for a little bit. This helped stretch out my leg muscles.

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but it makes sense to me that bouncing stretches your leg muscles. If I'm wrong, please please tell me.

Anyhoo, after bouncing I went down to the Pavilion lake. I started out walking, not slow and then started running. I think I walked, ran, walked, ran, walked, and ran. I have no idea how far it is around the lake, I'll have to GPS it tonight when I run again.

Yes, I am going to do this again. I felt fantastic! My legs are a little stiff today, but not horribly so (another reason why I want to do this again tonight).

In summary, I'm proud of myself. I've been wanting to get back to running for sooooo long and I've been sooooo lazy. This is great.

Aren't you proud of me?

My shoeboxed life

No idea what that really means in relation to my life. I don't live in a shoebox. Do you?

Look at this picture of our lazy kitten. She just stretches out wherever and whenever she wants. She could be following you one minute and the next, plop. Down she goes. Goofy.

So let's go back to that shoebox thing? What does that really mean? Does it mean your life is controlled by someone or something? Does it mean you are afraid to try new things, you just maintain the same boring rituals day in and day out?

I actually got an email that had a sub-heading in it that said "My Shoebox Life". That's what started me down this road wondering what exactly does that mean?

Looking for answers please.

Happy Monday!

Going camping

We are going to Philpott Lake tomorrow, for the weekend. Will stop in Harrisonburg to pick up the pop-up and keep gettin' it down 81.

Hubby says it is about a 4 hour ride. Yuck.

That means that I have to go to the library tonight and get some reading material for the trip. I wish we were instead going to a store tonight to buy me a kayak. Hubby is taking his and bringing the boat.

The weather better be nice. Nice tanning weather. That's what I need.

The boys will be at their dad's this weekend. The actually go to their dad's for the whole after 4th of July weekend. I need the break.

What are you doing this weekend? Anything fun?

F My Life Wednesday

It is a pretty great day today! The weather, I mean. Well, I take that back, for way early in the work day, it's a pretty good, not bad, day....

So far.

And here is your Wednesday feature (credit to F My Life).

"Today, my boyfriend and I took a late night drive, and after a while he stopped at a gas station and asked if I wanted anything. I replied "guess". He came out and gave me a box of tampons. Apparently, I've been bitchy. FML"

Have a great rest of the day Wednesday!

Metro train collision

If you live in the metro area of Washington, DC you, know doubt, have heard about the horrific collision of 2 metro trains. The pictures are horrible and I couldn't imagine what it must feel like to have been on one of those trains.

The farther you were away from the impact area might not have been extremely bad, but did you actually know what was going on?

Why didn't the driver see the train ahead of her? What could she have possible been doing? I imagine you may get a little sidetracked since the trains are mainly automatic, but still, didn't she look up at all? Did she not know how to manually stop the train?

Absolutely horrible.

My dad only heard about the crash this morning (he lives in Pittsburgh) and called me first thing this morning to check on me. He was a bit worried.

When I did ride metro, I rode the Orange line so it wouldn't have affected me anyhow, but I should have realized that it may have jolted them hearing about a crash, especially since they don't know the metro system at all down here. I should have called them last night. I'll have to remember that regarding major happenings in our Virginia / DC area.

Sorry to start out Tuesday on such a bleak note, but I felt it necessary to express my sorrow for those involved in this devastating tragedy.

Moody Monday

No, I'm not moody today (at least not yet).

There are some Monday's where I get very moody and cranky and all in a funk. However, today I am pretty good.

Hubby is not working today. He took the little boat and went to Burke Lake this morning. I forget what is after today, but he had to be there at the crack of dawn, according to him. That's when this type of fish is supposedly biting. Whatever.

I am so glad that this year of school is over. For J. He comes home on Friday with a "Textbook Deficiency Report". His pain-in-the-ass Spanish teacher says that J broke the cover of his Spanish book. (This jerk has been all over J all year.)

Of course, I asked J about it and he said the cover was messed up near the top where it had a tear in it, but it wasn't "broken".

So, I'm calling the school and I want to see the book. I have every right to request this. I am not sending in $48 for a new book on this jerk's word alone. That's alot of money for a school book.

Seriously, I have had it out with this "teacher". J's Assistant Principal has been involved with this dude. Supposedly, the teacher has issues with alot of kids. I'm sure the kids are always wrong too. Jerk!

TGIF and last bit of Spring

If Spring is almost over (days away) does that mean it will take the rain with it?

I think everyone (at least on the east coast, mid-atlantic area) is thoroughly soaked through.

Oh yeah, can you also not bring the humidity with you when you visit us Summer? It would be much appreciated.

<------- This is our radar forecast for today.

Stay the hell away rain!

Movie's R Us

I'm not a movie person. I find it very hard to stay awake for a whole entire movie. My hubby loves watching movies. He is constantly watching movies, the history channel, the discovery channel, crap like that.

Tonight we went out to the movies. And it was my idea.

I so wanted to see the "Hangover". It was hilarious. I'm not sure we ever stopped laughing. You need to see this movie.

While we were in the "Hangover" theater (theater #8) at Regal Fox 16, my boys were in theater #1 seeing "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian". They were supposed to be going to see "Up" (the 3-d version) but changed their minds when we got there.

The boys said it was very good and yes, they did see the first one.

So, anyhow, "Hangover" was terrific and for a person that doesn't go to movies and hardly ever watches them at home, if I say it was a good movie, then you know it has got to be good.

Because I said so.

F My Life Wednesday

Credit to FMyLife.

"Today, while I was at my girlfriend's parents' house for dinner and I thought no one was looking, I picked my nose and put it underneath my chair. Turns out she has a little brother who found it appropriate to point at me and scream, "Booger monster, Booger monster!" FML."

Happy Wednesday...

City of Champions (part 2)

Gotta love them! Pittsburgh rocks!

City of Champions

That's correct. Pittsburgh is the City of Champions. 5 months ago, the Steelers Ruled, 2 weeks ago, Pittsburgh was voted the "most livable city" AGAIN, and just this past Friday, the Penguins dominate.

We rock!

Thunderstorms

Again. They are on their way, you can see the clouds moving in. We are going to get drenched.

Again.

Reblog this post [with Zemanta]

Hello to my Friday

Did you notice the mess of traffic in DC yesterday afternoon? Holy crap, what an f'ing mess! It took me double the time to get home from work and that's just because the buses couldn't get into the city. The bus was 50 minutes late and it was standing room only. By that time, I was tired of standing at the bus stop, so I passed.

The next bus came 15 minutes later, was very empty and we shot right out of town. Finally. So from start to finish, 2 hours. Normally, 50 minutes or so.

Gotta love DC. Can you imagine if it was more than a shooting at the museum? I'm pretty sure that DC isn't ready for evacuations.

Tonight is game 4 for the Lakers and Magic. I think I want the Lakers to win, but at the same time, I want a good series. So, Go Magic! For tonight anyways.

And tomorrow, WE WIN LORD'S STANLEY CUP! GO PENGUINS! GO PENS!

F My Life Wednesday

It's that day of the week again, Wednesday!

Today, I finally confessed to the guy I've liked for 2 years. I told him that I've really liked him for a long time and that I knew he had a girlfriend and I didn't expect anything from him, I just wanted him to know. His response: "Are you done? 'Cause I need to go to the bathroom." FML.

Courtesy of FMyLife.

------------------------------------------

And just hold on there....... how 'bout them Pens! GO PENGUINS! I game to go to win the coveted cup. We can do it!

What is wrong with me?

I want to do it, I really, really do. I just can't get from here to there. I sit down and open a blank document or even an already started story and just can't move on. I know what I want to write, I think I just don't know how to get from beginning to finished.

I have all the time in the world right now at work. I could have a finished novel by now with all the time I've wasted surfing.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am surfing well. I am reading constantly about "writing". But why can't I just do it?

Any ideas? What can I do to motivate myself?

I posted the start of a story out on "TextNovel"; I even have one person following it, but it's stuck. HELP ME!!!!

and, I should have my hands slapped if I forgot this: GO PENGUINS!

It's just another manic Monday....

Not really, pretty darn quiet and slow here at work. Weather is looking good at the moment but we are to expect heat related thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening.

Nice weekend.

Let me rephrase that. Nice drunken weekend. Weekends are good for drinking, did you know that? I know last week I said they needed to stop. Oh well, alcohol makes you do weird things.

Have a great Monday.

More rain, more dreariness

Is that a word, dreariness? I have no idea and really, I don't care. Do you?

How 'bout them Penguins?!?!?!?! We rock, they rule, GO PENS!!!!!

This is the Friday mid-day edition of my random thoughts. Now, that does not mean there will be a late edition, but anything is possible.

Have you heard/read about the latest US thing catching on? It's been around a long time in Japan. Thumb Novels. Mini, short novels you write and post from your cell phone. I think it is kinda cool.

So what did I do? I posted the beginning of one out on Textnovel. Go read it and tell me what you think. (I haven't gotten real far, but I will)

Waterlogged

It's raining again (wow, surprise) and I am feeling water logged. I was so tired last night that I was fast asleep by 10:30pm, and I blame it on the weather.

This is a picture I get when I google "waterlogged". I have no idea where this is.

I will admit that the lightning show last night was awesome, it went on for a good 20 minutes straight. And I do love thunderstorms, but it's just getting old.

Game 4 of the Stanley Cup is tonight - and you will never guess what I am going to say.....

GO PENS!!!!

Okay, you probably knew that. In some ways, I am very predictable.

I made mine and B's reservations for Disney World and put down the deposit. It's official, my son, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and all the other characters will be mingling the first few days of September. Gotta love it.

And, booking through Disney was actually cheaper than Expedia or Travelocity. That was a shocker (and less fees), and you get a few extra perks. So, I think it will be well worth it.

Have a nice soggy Thursday (especially if you are on the East Coast with us).

F My Life Wednesday

"Today, I was taking a nap. Apparently, my two year old daughter decided to crawl on top of the covers on my bed because she was scared since there was a thunder storm. I thought she was one of our cats so I kicked her off. She hit the wall. FML."

Holy crap, but thanks to F My Life.

GO PENGUINS! And they are hanging in there. That was the real Penguins playing last night. Tomorrow is game 4. Bring it on!

Word of the Day

Today's Word of the Day is Hortatory. It means "Marked by strong urging; serving to encourage or incite".

Here's another little something I picked up from the grocery store -------->

Aren't you glad I am sharing my shopping experience with you? "Yeah, right, what a loser with nothing to say", he said.

I don't know, I consider it pretty random, don't you. Where else can you see someone's purchases?

So June 19th is the last day of school for my kids. Our county gets out awful late, in my opinion. I miss them going back to school before Labor Day, its that damn Kings Dominion law. We need to change that again.

So its official, I have requested time off to take my youngest to Disney World. We are going the first week in September (yeah, after I just bitched about wanting them to go back to school before Labor Day). Its just for 4 days.

And J will get his mini-vacay in November. We have to wait until the Lakers schedule is posted and tickets are available. That will be a cool vacation.

TTFN

Oooops -- GO PENGUINS!!!!!!

Achy and sore Monday morning

Weekend drinking is bad for your health. I feel so sore and achy today, didn't feel so bad yesterday, since my hubby says he had to drag me home Saturday night (more or less). Well, I'm seeing some bruising where he had to help me walk, but boy am I feeling it. Very stiff and hurting.

Have I learned my lesson? No, I'm sure I haven't.

That's why we walk, or try to walk. It gives me that license to get wasted. And it's about time he took care of me, I am constantly getting him home and in the front door.

Okay, Penguins, you are down 2-0 to fuckin' detroit. I can't have that. Step it up.
